A Sporting Community
Blessed with several sports facilities such as the arena and pool complexes Uxbridge's current sports requirements are well looked after. With a growing community the future of sports in Uxbridge looks even better as the town is working on a mastrer plan for the recently aquired Kennedy House Property. This 100 plus acre Property will eventually be home to the Uxbridge Soccer Club soccer fields(already there) softball fields, a playground, a splash pad, a skate park and a multi use court.
Uxbridge is a very sporting community with many of the charitable community events utilizing the various sports to raise funds. Run for the Diamond, The Uxbridge Auxiliary Half Marathon, 10K Run, 5K Family Run/Walk and Kids Dash and the Terry Fox Run are just two examples of sports oriented fund raisers that take place in Uxbridge every year
Spectator or participant; every season has a sport for the sporting enthusiast in you, from soccer to baseball, skiing, golf, Lawn Bowling, pond hockey or league hockey, Uxbridge has it all.
Uxbridge Arena is combination community center and arena with twin pads. The community centre has a capacity of 435 and is used for community functions, weddings, anniversaries meetings and sales events. There is a full kitchen and a bar available for the various events. Uxbridge Arena is home to the Uxbridge Bruins Junior C Hockey Club, The Uxbridge Youth Hockey Association, and The Uxbridge Skating Club. and the Uxbridge Minor Lacrosse Association
Uxbridge and area is also blessed with many ponds that are used for the more traditional form of hockey pick up or pond hockey.
The Uxbridge Pool Complex is home to the Uxbridge Swim Club, the Uxbridge Squash Club, Uxbridge Tae Kwon Do and the tennis club.
Uxbridge's love of baseball dates back to the late 1800's with men's teams like the "Stars", playing before crowds of local cheering fans. Today, the Uxbridge Youth Baseball Associationoffers local kids the chance to shine before family, friends and neighbours.
Some of the commercial sporting venture around town include Uxbridge Bowling Centre, A 5-pin bowling establishment also featuring party rooms. For the Golfer there is Foxbridge Golf, Established in 1958, that has evolved from a 9 hole golf course to the current 18 hole course with driving range and Wooden Sticks, An 18-hole championship layout featuring holes inspired by courses such as St.Andrew's, Augusta, Oakmont, Troon and Sawgrass and not to far away is Mill Run Golf & Country Club. For the skier there is Dagmar Ski Resort Ltd and Lakeridge Ski Resort
Being the heart of a farming community you just know that there is also horse back riding and trail walking. Straddling the Oak Ridge Moraine, Uxbridge, is know as The Trail Capital Of Canada.
